Production at POLCOLORIT SA is based on technology sheets developed in the Technology Department. These contain the name of the design, the format, and all technological parameters such as ingredient mix, quantities and firing temperature.
Floor and wall tiles for indoor use are produced by a double-firing method: a tile is pressed and fired, then glaze and colour pastes are applied in a screen process, and finally a second firing takes places. This technology produces tiles with a matt, glossy or transparent glaze, with rich intense colours.
Fine stone tiles for indoor and outdoor use are produced by a single-firing method. In this case the unbaked tile (previously pressed from granular mass and dried) is covered with glaze and decorated with colour pastes in a rotary screen process, and then fired in a furnace. This method produces highly durable tiles with low absorption, which makes them resistant to frost. Product sorting is automated, which makes it possible to check every tile and decorative element.

POLCOLORIT SA also produces various kinds of decorative elements and strips as accessories to tiles, as well as hand-painted products specially to customers’ individual order. These products are made using the latest worldwide technical and technological solutions, which means that special effects are produced that are not found in other ceramics, e.g. structural strips and decorative elements, 3D effects and decoration with precious metals.
The company manufactures products based on the know-how of Italian and Spanish tile producers. This is possible because the plant is equipped with modern machinery from Sacmi (presses, furnaces), Barberi & Tarozzi (automated transportation system with laser control and loading/unloading) and Nuova Firma (sorting and packing).
